File format support is one of the strongest aspects of the CS510 as it is compatible with most of the popular formats out of the box, including WMV9, DivX, Xvid and QuickTime. Alongside video playback the device can be used for slideshows, as well as streaming Internet radio. The resulting video and audio can be output using a variety of ports including HDMI, Component for video and Coaxial/Optical for audio. All content can be output at 720p or 1080i resolution with the necessary upscaling happening inside the streamer itself.

  • Outputs: HDMI x 1, Component x 1, Composite x 1, Coaxial Audio x 1, Optical Audio x 1
  • Upscales to 1080i or 720p
  • built-in B/G Wireless
  • built-in ethernet port
  • Video Formats: WMV9, MPEG4 formats including Xvid and DivX, Real Video, Nero Digital, MPEG2/1
  • Audio formats: unprotected AAC, FLAC, OGG, MP3, WMA9, CD Audio

The wireless connection handles both WEP and WPA secured networks. Similar to the Xbox Media Center the CS510 can access network folders that are configured as Samba shares and read the files directly. The device is also compatible with UpNp servers such as TVersity or Windows Media Player 11. A notable feature is the support for DVD ISOs, if you rip a DVD straight to a hard drive then the CS510 can read the ISO file and treat it as if it were a regular DVD in the drive.
