Mvix MX-760HD

$300.00 Released December, 2006

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Excellent ease of use. Runs just about every video format that I have thrown at it.

The Cons:Remote control is annoying. No HDMI.

The Mvix MX-760HD is a Linux-based multimedia center cited as featuring “outstanding visual quality supported by leading-edge video decoding technology.” Slightly larger than its predecessors at 7.6”x7.4”x2.3”, the Mvix MX-760HD is considered a massive upgrade from the Mvix MV-4000u and Mvix MV-5000r because it supports both HD video up to 1080p and 802.11b/g with WEP wireless technology.

In addition, whereas the 5000u was restricted by composite, s-video, and component video outputs, the 760HD also includes a DVI port. Although the MX-760HD does not come with an included hard drive, it must be noted that external USB storage devices can be attached to it, thereby allowing an unlimited amount of external storage. In addition, critics have pointed out that an internal hard drive isn’t even necessary with the MX-760H since users can stream content directly wirelessly from the Internet. The Mvix MX-760HD also features support for over 15 different video formats, two USB 2.0 ports, and the ability to display pictures in a customized slideshow.
